Teacher, Ballet Mistress and Choreographer

From 1977 to 1991 prima ballerina of the Czech National Theatre in Prague.

Her repertoire includes classical creation in original versions of famous choreographers as well as neoclassical and contemporary works. Her perfect technique and a pure classical ballet style destinated her for leading roles.

She graduated from the Prague State Conservatoire of Music and Dance, with highest honours. She also studied at the Bolshoi Academy of Ballet and Choreography in Moscow, and she attended the famous David Howard Ballet Studio in New York.

In 1978 she performed for the Spanish Royal Family in the "Gran Gala de las Estrellas de la Danza" in Madrid. She performed with a great success at Broadway in the "All Star Gala". She has won prestigious ballet competitions (Prague 1975, Lausanne 1976, Tokyo 1978, Varna 1978, Jackson, Mississippi 1979). In 1979, she and Lubomír Kafka received a special prize Best Couple at the USA International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi.

In 2001, she was guest professor at The Korean National University of Arts (South Korea), and she did seminars at Yale University and other universities in the USA. She took also part in several ballet films in Czech Republic but also in abroad.

She performed with the National Ballet of Canada, participated in the Italian tour of prima ballerina Carla Fracci. In 1982 and 1988 she performed at the World Ballet Festival in Tokyo and Osaka with other stars of the world ballet.

In 1989-1990 she guest starred in the title role of the ballet Giselle at the State Opera in Berlin. She has toured the United States several times, in a total of 31 states of the union.

In 1995, she has entered the American Hall of Fame for excellence in Theatre Management and International Ballet Art.

Since 1998, she has been jury member of international ballet competitions in all around the word (USA, China, Switzerland, Italy, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Turkey). In 2000, she became a member of the Committee of Experts of the first Monaco Dance Awards.

She staged the full-lenght ballet "Creation of the World" in the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre and she produced and choreographed the Swan Lake in the State Opera in Prague in connection with the Prague Ballet Summer.

Since 2014 she has been organizing the Summer Ballet Program every summer and has been teaching private lessons at the JK Master Ballet School. Every month she organizes Ballet Masterclasses with Jana Kurova. She prepares students for prestigious international ballet competitions where they regularly win awards - Grand Prix, First, Second and Third Prize.

In 2024, she received the Certificate of Excellence from the European Ballet Grand Prix for her teaching activities.
